Accident with Injuries

DATE & TIME: 9/3/2019 @ 1830 hrs

LOCATION: Lilac Rd and US HWY 77

OFFENSE: Accident with Injuries

Deputies of the Gage County Sheriffs Office were dispatched to an injury accident at Lilac Rd and US HWY 77. The investigation concluded the following:

A 2001 Black Dodge Ram Truck, driven by Wayne Schulz, age 80 of Beatrice, Nebraska, was stopped in the north bound lane on US Hwy 77 making a left-hand turn onto west Lilac Rd. A north bound semi-tractor/ trailer was rapidly approaching his vehicle. The driver of the semi­ tractor/trailer, Arshdeep Dandiwal age 25, of Manitoba, Canada, passed this black pickup on the right never impacting this vehicle waiting to turn left. Subsequently, a vehicle following this semi-tractor/trailer was a Red 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by: Damion Tomjack age 18 of Beatrice, Nebraska. This vehicle was unable to evade the black Dodge pickup and struck the rear of it.

The Red 1999 Chev Cavalier had 4 occupants. Seatbelt usage and an Infant Car-seat were in operation. Drivers' side and passenger side airbag deployment occurred.

Only minor scrapes and cuts were received and no transport was made.

No injuries were reported from  the Black Dodge Ram truck

Citations were issued to:  Damion Tomjack - Following to Close

                                               Arshdeep Dandiwal - Improper pass - passing on the right.

All vehicles were a total loss. Speed and Alcohol were not factors  in the collision.

The Gage County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Beatrice Police Department and Beatrice Fire and Rescue.
