Arrest Made After Report of Suspicious and Possible Drug Related Activity

DATE & TIME: July 10, 2018 @ 2147 Hours

LOCATION: One-Stop gas station at 11684 East U.S. Highway 136

OFFENSE: Possession of a Controlled Substance §28-416(3), Possession of methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver §28-4169(1) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia §28-441

On July 10, 2018 at 2147 hours Gage County Deputies responded to the area of S.148th and Sargent Road for a report of suspicious and possible drug related activity. It was reported that a male wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans driving a dark colored Ford Fusion with no license plates may be under the influence of narcotics and possible in possession of narcotics as well. The caller followed the vehicle until the Ford Fusion stopped to get gas at the One-Stop gas station at 11684 East U.S. Highway 136. Deputies arrived on location and made contact with the driver of the Ford Fusion. The driver was identified as Whitney Hopkins, a 57 year old male from Blue Springs,Nebraska.

During the course of the investigation the Sheriff’s Office K-9; Deputy “Buster” was deployed on Hopkins vehicle and a narcotics sniff was conducted. Buster indicated to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. A vehicle search was conducted and Deputies located multiple individually packaged small baggies with a crystal like substance located inside of them. The substance was later identified as Methamphetamine. A glass methamphetamine pipe was also located in the vehicle. Hopkins was arrested for Possession of methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver §28-4169(1), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 28-441 and Possession of a Controlled Substance §28-416(3). He was then transported to the Gage County Detention Center where he was lodged.
