Assist Other Agency / Sex Offender Registry Violation

DATE & TIME: 10-20-2020 @ 11:00

LOCATION: Beatrice Speedway / Gage County Fairgrounds

OFFENSE: Assist Other Agency / Sex Offender Registry Violation

CASE #: 2020-4740

The Gage County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a sheriff’s office in Iowa requesting assistance in their investigation of a registered sex offender in violation of Iowa law regarding reporting out of state travel by sex offenders.

The registered sex offender from Iowa participated in the races at Beatrice Speedway during the weekend of October 16-18, 2020 and stayed at a hotel in Lincoln, Nebraska, however he failed to notify Iowa law enforcement authorities that he left the state. He did not report to the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and there is no record of him in Nebraska sex offender registry files.

A Gage County Sheriff’s Office investigator was assigned to the case, identified the registered sex offender and determined no violation of Nebraska state law occurred, but forwarded information confirming the sex offender had been at Beatrice Speedway during that weekend to the Iowa law enforcement agency. The Beatrice Police Department was made aware of the report for their files.
