Car / Pedestrian Injury Accident on Highway 77 & 6th St., Cortland

OFFENSE: Car / Pedestrian Injury Accident

On November 16, 2015 at approximately 0533 hours,  the Gage County Sheriff’s Office, Cortland Fire and Rescue, and Clatonia Fire and Rescue responded to Highway 77 and 6th St. in Cortland on a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. 

The investigation determined that Jesus G. Amaya Villalobos, age 33 of Omaha, was traveling southbound on Highway 77 when he struck John Taylor, age 22 of Beatrice, who was walking in the inside lane of Highway 77.  Taylor was transported to Bryan LGH West Hospital in Lincoln for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.  Villalobos was not injured. 

Villalobos was cited and released for Careless Driving.  A Nebraska State Patrol Accident Reconstructionist assisted with the investigation.  It is unknown if Villalobos was wearing his seat belt. 

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.
