Criminal Impersonation / Identity Theft
DATE & TIME: 03-14-2019 / 11:00
LOCATION: Filley, Nebraska
OFFENSE: Criminal Impersonation / Identity Theft
CASE #: 2019-1240
A resident of Filley, Nebraska reported to a Gage County Sheriff’s Office investigator that she had been the victim of criminal impersonation, colloquially known as “identity theft” during late February and early March. At least two credit card companies charged her for purchases she did not make and accepted her dispute of the charges. She does not know who could have done this and the companies selling the merchandise and the credit card companies will have to determine who has suffered a financial loss and contact the law enforcement agency in that jurisdiction to report the fraud.
This victim has not suffered any financial loss from this crime, however residents are encouraged to report to law enforcement if they are victims of identity theft, whether they have lost money or not. Call the local police department where you live or contact the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and ask to speak with an investigator.
