DATE & TIME: 10-07-2010 @ 07:27
LOCATION: Holmesville area
OFFENSE: Criminal Impersonation / Identity Theft
CASE #: 2019-5326
A Holmesville resident called the sheriff's office on 10-07-2019 to report that for "a couple
months" unknown persons have been using his personal information and data to open credit and
banking accounts, as well as charging items without his knowledge or consent. An investigator
for the Gage County Sheriff’s Office followed up with him and ascertained the following facts:
He states a Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) checking and savings account was opened and a
loan application was pending, but NFCU closed that account as a fraud.
He states Macy's had an account opened in his name, as well as a Gap store account. Both
those were cancelled after it was learned they were opened fraudulently.
He states that on Saturday, 10-05-2019, he learned a car had been rented in his name in
Oakland, California on/or about 09-22-2019, when he received notice the car had not been
returned. He did not rent the vehicle or authorized the use of his name, credit, personal
information or identity to rent the vehicle.
He states Infiniti/Comcast also had an account opened with his personal information in the
Bayview, California area. He did not authorize that transaction.
At the time of this report, he has not suffered a financial loss, however his credit history has
suffered negative information being added to it and person or persons unknown have received
items or services of value by using his personal information.
The victim was given the case number and referred him to the Gage County Sheriff's Office
website http://www.gagecountysheriff.us/fraud for a direct link to the Federal Trade Commission
for additional reporting options.
