A resident of rural Beatrice reported to a Gage County Sheriff’s Office investigator that her credit card had been used by unknown person or persons at a home improvement store in Chicago and in Cicero, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago on April 4^th, 2020. The Gage County resident will not be out any money, as the stores in Illinois will be responsible for the losses, however a report for criminal impersonation, colloquially referred to as identity theft, was taken by the investigator.  She was advised to contact her bank and other credit card companies, as well as the credit reporting agencies to alert them to this fraud. She was also directed to the Federal Trade Commission, a link to which can be found on the Gage County Sheriff’s Office website at http://www.gagecountysheriff.us/fraud
