Criminal Impersonation (Identity Theft) Rural Beatrice

DATE & TIME: 02-01-2017

LOCATION: Rural Beatrice

OFFENSE: Criminal Impersonation (Identity Theft)

CASE #: 2017-0608

On 02-01-2017 an officer from the Beatrice Police Department forwarded information to a Gage County investigator about a possible case of criminal impersonation, commonly known as identity theft, involving a resident of rural Beatrice.  The investigation into the matter determined a credit card had been opened in the name of the Gage County resident and charges had been made to the credit card.

A Gage County investigator followed up with the victim, who stated he had not opened an account or given authorization for anyone to open and use a credit card account in his name.  The investigator followed up by contacting the victim’s bank and determining that the fraudulent account had been identified and no payments toward the credit card had been made from the victim’s bank account.

The Gage County Sheriff’s Office investigators will follow up on a potential suspect in the area and will work in cooperation with the Beatrice Police Department investigators for any cases they may have as a result of this incident.

This case is currently still active.
