DATE & TIME: 03-23-2021 @ 10:35 am

LOCATION: Gage County Detention Center

OFFENSE: Criminal Mischief (Jail Property)

CASE #: 2021-1059

On Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at approximately 10:35 am, correction officers for the Gage County Sheriff’s Office had an incident in the jail involving 26-year-old Bryan Bishop, an inmate at the jail, damaging the acrylic protective cover on the jail camera in his cell block by jumping up and cracking the cover with his shoe. The officers were able to subdue Bishop, who was upset over his court hearing, without incident and he was placed into protective isolation.

An investigator from the Gage County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched and issued Bishop a criminal citation for criminal mischief, with a damaged value of less than $500.00.

Bishop was still being held in jail on his original charges after being issued the criminal citation by the investigator.

The camera system was inspected and a replacement part was installed within an hour of the damage. The video system is back to functioning properly.
