On Tuesday, 04-17-2018, at approximately 11:37 pm, deputies from the Gage County Sheriff’s Office were called to a rural home northwest of Filley, Nebraska, for a 55-year-old female who was found with a gunshot wound to her head. The female was a house guest of the homeowner and had been staying there since Saturday. The homeowner, who had been at work that evening, came home from working at his shop, found her in the living room sitting in the chair with a gunshot wound to her temple and called the sheriff’s office.

A Gage County Sheriff’s Office Investigator was called to the scene, as well as the Gage County Attorney for coroner duties. The preliminary investigation indicates 55-year-old Dianna L. Coan of Fremont died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A 9mm Smith & Wesson M & P Shield pistol was recovered from the scene.

The victim was taken to Griffiths-Hovendick Funeral Home in Beatrice.

Further investigation into the incident will be conducted by investigators from the Gage County Sheriff’s Office.
