CASE #: 2017-2898
Deputies from the Gage County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 204 Leslie Street in Barneston on Friday, June 2, 2017, at 4:15 pm, for a report of a domestic assault.
The suspect, 34-year-old Michael Hockman, fled the scene before deputies arrived in Barneston, but was later located in Blue Springs, Nebraska, where he was arrested.
Deputies at the scene met the victim who stated she had been physically assaulted, slapped, and locked in a closet by Michael Hockman. She told deputies after Hockman did this she managed to briefly escape, however he threw her onto the floor, where she received cuts to her back when she landed on some broken glass. Hockman then began slapping and punching her again, despite her pleas for him to stop.
The victim states all of this occurred in the presence of their children and they both heard and witnessed the events. The victim was finally able to get one of her children to go to a neighbor’s house to have them call the sheriff’s office.
The deputy investigating the domestic assault stayed with the victim while she was treated by ambulance crews, who then transported her to Beatrice Community Hospital to be medically treated in the emergency room at the hospital for her injuries.
Since Hockman fled from the house prior to the arrival of deputies, the Wymore Police Department and the Nebraska State Patrol were asked to assist in locating Hockman. A Gage County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted Hockman’s vehicle in Blue Springs and he was taken into custody at a house in Blue Springs.
