Flight to Avoid Leading to Possession of Methamphetamine

On August 30, 2015 at approximately 0052 hours, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop in southern Gage County with a gray Chevrolet Impala with Nebraska VLN: 3-B8181. The vehicle failed to stop for the deputy and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit lasted around thirty minutes and entered the city limits of Blue Springs and Wymore at times. The vehicle ended up eluding law enforcement and was not able to be located.

On August 30, 2015 at approximately 1630 hours, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office received a tip on the vehicle’s location from a concerned citizen who had read information on the Gage County Sheriff’s Office Facebook Page and knew we were attempting to locate the vehicle. Sheriff’s Deputies located the vehicle at 8th and Bell Streets in Beatrice, Nebraska and contacted the occupants. Located in the vehicle was 23 year old Thomas D. Sailors of Blue Springs, Nebraska. Sailors was found to have an active Gage County Arrest Warrant. Sailors was placed under arrest.  During the search of him, deputies located a glass smoking device with residue on the pipe. The residue later field tested positive for methamphetamine. Sailors was also found to be in possession of $984.00 in cash which was seized as suspected drug money. During the inventory of the vehicle, a digital scale with white residue was also located which is suspected as being used for the sale of illegal drugs.

Sailors was placed under arrest for the active Gage County Arrest Warrant and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Drug Money. The vehicle was seized as evidence as part of the investigation for the pursuit. Sailors was transported to the Gage County Detention Center where he was lodged.
