Following Pursuit Driver Arrested on Multiple Charges

DATE & TIME: November 7, 2018 @ 1819 Hours      

LOCATION: 19th and Dorsey Street   

OFFENSE: Fleeing to Avoid Arrest in a Motor Vehicle, Willful Reckless Driving, Refusal to Submit to a Preliminary Breath Test, Refusal to a Chemical Test, Driving Under the Influence and Open Alcohol Container

CASE #: 2018-5614

On November 7, 2018 at approximately 6:17 pm a Gage County Deputy observed traffic violations on a maroon 2018 Hyundai Sonata GLS in area of 19th and Dorsey Street. The Deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle on South 1st and Sargent Road. The vehicle failed to yield for the Deputies emergency lights and sirens and then lead the Deputy on a pursuit which went through the city of Beatrice. The Beatrice Police Department became involved in the pursuit which ended in the alley way of 911 North 10th Street.  The Driver of the vehicle was identified as a 33 year old male David E. Barrett from Beatrice.  Barrett was taken into custody without incident and transport to the Gage County Detention Center where he was lodge for the following charges: Fleeing to Avoid Arrest in a Motor Vehicle 2nd Offence §28-905, Willful Reckless Driving 2nd Offense 60-6,6214, Refusal to Submit to a Preliminary Breath Test 60-6197.04, Refusal to a Chemical Test 60-6197, Driving Under the Influence 3rd Offense 60-6196  and Open Alcohol Container 60-6211.08.
