Grain Truck Rollover at Broad & River Street, Blue Springs

On October 6, 2015 at approximately 1710 hours, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office responded to Broad and River Street in Blue Springs in reference to an injury accident.

The investigation revealed that a grain truck was traveling west on Broad Street just east of River Street. As the vehicle was traveling around the curve on Broad Street, just east of the river bridge in Blue Springs, the grain truck rolled due to its speed. The vehicle came to rest on the bridge and both lanes of traffic were blocked.

The accident caused the vehicle to leak a large quantity of diesel fuel into the river. A clean up team was called to properly decontaminate the river. The bridge was closed as of 2100 hours on October 6, 2015 while clean-up could be completed and the stability of the bridge could be checked.  

The driver, 48 year old Paul Borzekofski, and the passenger in the vehicle sustained injuries from the accident. Their injuries are believed to be minor.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor and seat belts were not being utilized.   

The Gage County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Blue Springs Fire, Wymore Fire and Rescue and Gage County Emergency Management.
