Identity Theft (Criminal Impersonation)

DATE & TIME: 03-17-2018 @ 1113

LOCATION: Odell, Nebraska

OFFENSE: Identity Theft (Criminal Impersonation)

CASE #: 2018-1123

A former resident of Odell, who now lives in Wood River, Nebraska reported to the Gage County Sheriff’s Office she had received a letter from Diversified Consultants, Inc. attempting to collect on a TMobile account. She states the company had the last four digits of her social security number, however she had never opened a TMobile account.

An investigator with the Gage County Sheriff’s Office contacted the victim and had her forward the letter from Diversified Consultants. After reviewing the documentation, the investigator determined that an unknown person had used the victim’s social security number or other identifying information to open a TMobile account and had failed to pay. This action of obtaining a service using the identity of the victim constituted an act of criminal impersonation, commonly referred to as identity theft.

Anyone who believes they are the victim of identity theft/criminal impersonation, should immediately call their local police department to report the situation or call the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and ask to speak with an investigator.
