On August 21, 2018 at approximately 2251 Hours, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office, Clatonia Rescue, Cortland QRT and Fire, Pickrell Fire, Beatrice Rescue and Star Care V responded to US Highway 77 and Buckeye Road in reference to a one vehicle injury accident.
The driver, 33 year old Rami Ibrahim of El Cajon, California, was driving a 2018 Toyota BTM southbound on US Highway 77 between Buckeye and Cedar Road. The driver of the vehicle exited the roadway to the east due to a distraction in the vehicle and collided with a bridge railing. The driver then over-corrected and collided with a bridge railing on the west side of the roadway. The second collision caused all the air bags in the vehicle to deploy. The vehicle then came to a rest in the west ditch just south of the bridge.
The driver was transported to Beatrice Community Hospital by Clatonia Rescue. The Passenger in the vehicle, 22 year old Abdullah T. Ibrahim of El Cajon, California, was transported to Bryan LGH West in Lincoln by Beatrice Rescue. The extent of their injuries are unknown at this time but are not believed to be life threatening. Star Care V did land on scene but was not utilized by rescue personnel.
All the airbags in the vehicle did deploy and restraint use is unknown at this time due to both the driver and passenger exiting the vehicle prior to 1st responders being on scene. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.
