Leaving the Scene of Injury Accident results in Arrest

DATE & TIME: June 13, 2017 at 1741 hours  

LOCATION: Highway 77 and Elm Road                    

OFFENSE: Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident  

CASE #: 2017-3126   

On June 13, 2017 at 1741 hours, the Gage County Sheriff Office resounded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 77 and Elm Road. It was reported that one of the vehicles had left the scene of the accident.

Vehicle #2 which was a 2012 Chevy Cruse was traveling southbound on Highway 77 in the left-hand lane approaching Elm Road. Vehicle #1which was a 1998 Buick Century was traveling westbound on Elm Road and was turning southbound onto Highway 77. The Chevy Cruse moved to the right hand lane so that the Buick Century could merge on to Highway 77. The Buick turned into the right hand lane striking the Cruse on the front driver’s side in the intersection of Highway 77 and Elm Road. The Chevy Cruse pulled off the highway and onto the shoulder just south of Elm Road. The Buick then traveled east bound onto Elm Road leaving the scene of the accident. The Buick then became disabled and came to a rest on Elm road just east of South 5th Road where Deputies made contact with the driver.

The driver of the Chevy Cruse was 18 year old Tristin Rzekonski from Beatrice and his passenger was 18 year old Samantha Workman also of Beatrice. Both Rzekonski and Workman received minor injuries resulting from airbag deployment from their vehicle, and they both refused medical attention and neither one was transported to a medical facility. Rzekonski and Workman were wearing their seatbelts during the time of the accident.

The diver of the Buick Century was 54 year old Carol A. Goracke from Beatrice. Goracke sustained no injuries as a result of the accident. Goracke was arrested for Fleeing the Scene of an Injury Accident and suspicion of Driving under the Influence.
