Leaving the scene of injury accident @ PWF & Highway 77

DATE & TIME:  February 26, 2017 at 0300 Hours     

LOCATION: PWF and Highway 77  

OFFENSE: Leaving the Scene of Accident and Injury Accident       

CASE #: 2017-1088   

On Sunday, February 26, 2017 at approximately 0300 Hours, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of PWF and US Highway 77 in reference to an accident that occurred earlier in the evening and was not reported at the time of the accident. Southeast Communication informed Deputies they had received a medical call in Wymore at 206 West M Street. After Wymore EMS had arrived, they stated the individual identified as Amy B. Swafford D.O.B 04-13-1979, may have been involved a motor vehicle accident which occurred around 0130 hours. 

When Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at the scene of the accident, they located a red Chevrolet Cavalier, which was to be registered to Amy Swafford. The investigation revealed the vehicle had left the roadway while traveling westbound US Highway 77 while taking the curve at the East State Highway 112 junction. The Cavalier went off the roadway to the south and through a fence, owned by the Nebraska Department of Roads, and came to rest near a rock pile.

Swafford was transported by Wymore EMS to the Beatrice Community Hospital to be treated for her injuries, which were non-life threatening. Deputies questioned Swafford at the hospital about the accident.  She stated she did not remember much about the accident, and was picked up by some individuals at the scene and transported to her residence.

Swafford was cited for leaving the scene of a property damage accident. Seat belts were not being utilized during the accident and air bags did deploy. Alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the accident.
