Injury Accident at SW 75th Road & West Juniper Road

DATE & TIME: 08-23-2017 / 0830

LOCATION: Southwest 75th Road / West Juniper Road

OFFENSE: Personal Injury Traffic Accident

CASE #: 2017-4765

A Gage County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to Beatrice Community Hospital Emergency Room on Wednesday, 08-23-2017, at approximately 1:15 pm to interview a patient in the emergency room who had possibly been involved in a motor vehicle accident earlier in the day.  The deputy responded to the hospital and interviewed the patient, the nurses, and another person associated with the vehicle.

The investigation into the traffic accident on 08-23-2017 determined Alicia Miller, age 46, who lives at Oak Aven Campground west of Beatrice, had worked a long overnight shift in Fairbury and was returning home to Oak Aven.  When Miller made a right turn to go south on Southwest 75th Road from West Juniper Road, she lost control of her vehicle, a red 1995 Chevrolet pickup, on the gravel road. She continued accelerating while swerving back and forth trying to correct for the loss of control, and ran off the roadway on the west side, striking the dirt embankment in the ditch, damaging the front bumper area of her vehicle, with the damage estimated at about $800.00.

The deputy cited Alicia Miller for operating a motor vehicle without a license and no proof of financial responsibility (no insurance).  Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident, nor is speed considered a factor.  Alicia Miller did state she was extremely tired from working an overnight shift the night before.

An investigator and a deputy drove to SW 75th Road and West Juniper Road and confirmed that was the location of the accident based on evidence found at the scene.
