Injury Accident on Highway 136 E of SW 142nd Road

On 08-05-17 at 1901 hours, a Gage County Deputy was dispatched to the area of Hwy 136 and SW 142nd Road for a motorcycle that may have struck a bench in the roadway. The deputy located the bench, but did not observe a motorcycle or rider at the scene. The bench was removed from the roadway.

At 2019 hours, a Gage County Deputy was dispatched to Beatrice Community Hospital for a motorcycle rider that had struck a bench in the roadway. At that location the deputy contacted 26 year old Anthony Phillips of Harbine. Mr. Phillips stated that he had been riding his 1984 Honda motorcycle eastbound on Hwy 136 when he struck a bench that was in the roadway, causing minor damage to his motorcycle and possibly causing injury to his ankle. Mr. Phillips returned home and then was transported to the Beatrice Community Hospital by a private party.

Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have been a factor. Mr. Phillips was wearing a helmet.

The origin of the bench is unknown at this time.
