Injury Accident on S 5th Road at E Elm Road

DATE & TIME: 8/3/2017 at 0856 hours

LOCATION: S. 5th Rd at E. Elm Rd

OFFENSE: Injury Accident

CASE #: 2017-4289

On the above date and time, Gage County Deputies responded to a two vehicle injury accident at the listed location.  Other agencies responding were Beatrice Fire and Rescue and Pickrell Rural Fire.

During the course of the investigation it was determined that 59 year old Keith Parde was driving a 2004 Ford F250 pickup southbound on S. 5th Road.  Parde took the curve to go eastbound onto E. Elm Rd.  Unbeknownst to Parde there was a 2006 Toyota van driven by 22 year old Jordan Horner westbound on E. Elm Rd.  Neither driver was able to avoid the other causing a collision.  The van came to rest on E. Elm Rd.  The Ford pickup rolled ¾ of a turn coming to rest in the south ditch on its driver’s side.

Parde was the sole occupant of his vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt.  Parde sustained minor injuries.  The van was occupied by 4 people.  Two of the passengers complained of pain at the scene but were not transported to a hospital.  The occupants of the van stated they were wearing seatbelts.  Both front airbags in the van did deploy.

Parde was cited for failure to yield right of way and released.
