Gage County Detention Center placed into modified lock down

DATE & TIME: 10/14/2017 approximately 1700 hours

LOCATION: Gage County Detention Center

OFFENSE:  Facility modified lock-down

On Saturday October 14th, 2017 I, Lt. Shepardson #9038, received a call from dispatch of an escape that occurred from the Marshall County Kansas Jail.  I was advised that 2 inmates had escaped, the jail was on fire, and there were weapons involved.  Communications advised that one of the suspects had stolen a truck and was captured south of Wymore on US Hwy 77.

I contacted Gage County Corrections Officers and I advised them to put the jail in a modified lock down to ensure proper safety and security until more information could be obtained from Marshall County Kansas.  There was limited inmate movement, no visitation, and no one was allowed into the lobby unless they were law enforcement.

On Sunday October 15th, 2017 at approximately 1100 hours the Gage County Detention Center went back to normal operation.
