LOCATION: Adams, Nebraska

TIME: 1550 hours

OFFENSE: Child Injured in Lawn Mower Accident

CASE:  2016-5138

At approximately 1555 hours on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, Southeast Communications dispatched Gage County Sheriff’s Deputy Rob Sandersfeld along with Adams Fire & Rescue to 405 Ash Street in Adams reference a child receiving serious injuries to his leg from a lawn mower.

The investigation into the incident determined that Bentley Campbell (5) was playing in his yard while his mother Julie Campbell was mowing the lawn.  Bentley had attempted to sneak up on his mother from behind to scare her, at the same time Julie began backing the lawn mower up, backing over Bentley.

Adams Fire and Rescue arrived on scene in minutes where they began treating deep cuts to one of Bentley’s legs.  StarCare Air Ambulance was requested to transport Bentley.

A short time later, StarCare Air Ambulance sat down in the infield of one of the Adams Ball Diamond and moments later they were airborne with Bentley, en route to the Bryan Trauma Center in Lincoln, Nebraska
