DATE & TIME: 05-11-15 0830

LOCATION: Hwy 136 east of SW 61st Road

OFFENSE:  Injury Accident, Leaving the scene of an Injury Accident

CASE #: 2015-T 309

On 05-11-15 around 0830 hours, Beatrice Fire and Rescue and the Gage County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a two vehicle injury accident on Hwy 136 east of SW 61st Road. It was reported at that time that one of vehicles involved had left the scene.

An investigation conducted at the scene and witness statements indicated that a green 1999 Dodge Stratus, driven by 40 year old Shawna Taylor of Fairbury, was traveling eastbound on Hwy 136, east of SW 61st Road when it was struck from behind by a silver 2012 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by 45 year old Daniel Goff of Waterbury Connecticut, that was also traveling eastbound on Hwy 136. The impact caused the Dodge Stratus to skid and rotate. The Dodge Stratus came to rest south of Hwy 136, after impacting a pile of gravel in a State of Nebraska Roads Department storage area. The vehicle driven by Goff continued eastbound on Hwy 136.

Ms. Taylor was transported to Beatrice Community Hospital for what appeared to be non life threatening injuries. Ms. Taylor was utilizing seatbelts and is not believed to have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol. No Airbags deployed.

Mr. Goff was located and stopped by the Beatrice Police Department in the area of 6th and Summit. He was taken into custody for leaving the scene of an injury accident.

It is unknown if Mr. Goff was utilizing seatbelts or if he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident. It is believed that speed was a factor in the accident.

The investigation is ongoing.
