Motor Vehicle Accident

On January 4, 2020 at approx. 2012 hrs., Deputies responded to a vehicle that was reported to have been abandoned in the yard at 21004 Hwy 77. Preliminary information received there were possible alcoholic containers inside the vehicle.

An investigation was conducted at the scene and it was learned that this vehicle was traveling East on Hickory Road when it traveled through the stop sign at Hwy 77 and Hickory Road. The vehicle traveled east through the south and north bound lanes of Hwy 77, entering the steep ditch on the east side of Hwy 77, traveling down the ditch, through some pine trees in the ditch area. The vehicle continued to travel east up a grade and came to rest over 700 ft east of Hwy 77 in the yard area of a residence at this location. Both driver's and passenger' front airbags were deployed.

Subsequent investigation continued and the driver was located on January 6, 2020.

The driver, 26 yr. old, Mallory Hellerich, of Beatrice, was cited for several violations that have been sent to Gage County Attorney' s office for review.

It could not be determined if alcohol was a factor concerning the driver, for contact was unable to made until 1/6/2020.

Minor injuries were reported from the passenger of the vehicle: Jared Dorn, 31, of rural Adams, Nebraska.

Investigation is ongoing and being handled by the Gage County Sheriff's Office.
