One Vehicle Rollover Accident on Blue Ridge Drive

DATE & TIME: September 11, 2017 at approximately 1400 hours    

LOCATION: SW 32 Road and Blue Ridge Road, Beatrice, NE                      

OFFENSE: One vehicle injury accident          

CASE #: 2017-5087   

DETAILS: On 09/11/2017 at approximately 1400 hours, Gage County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a one vehicle rollover accident near SW 32^nd Road on Blue Ridge Drive.

Elaine J. Penner, 78 yoa of Beatrice, NE, was traveling northbound on Blue Ridge Road near SW 32 Road in her 2017 GMC Yukon Denali.

Penner met a vehicle traveling southbound on Blue Ridge Road and steered to the right to allow room for both vehicles to travel on the roadway. Penner stated when she did this she felt her GMC Yukon travel in loose gravel causing her vehicle to go off of the roadway and enter the east ditch. Penner was unaware what had occurred after entering the ditch.

An on scene investigation shows signs of Penner’s vehicle enter the east ditch and flip end over end and coming to rest on its top. Beatrice Fire and Rescue had to utilize extrication equipment to rescue Penner from the vehicle due to Penner having no way of exiting her vehicle.   Penner was transported by Beatrice Rescue to the Beatrice Community Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Penner was wearing her seat belt and neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor. Other agencies also responding were Beatrice Rural Fire, Beatrice Police Department and Gage County Highway Department.
