CASE #: 2017-2992
On June 5, 2017 at approximately 2348 hours, K-9 Deputy Bebensee #9039 was northbound on Highway 77 just north of Elm Road when he observed a 2007 Chevy Impala on its side in the west ditch of Highway 77. Beatrice Fire and Rescue along with Beatrice Rural Fire and Star Care Helicopter responded to the accident.
Tiedeman was identified as the driver of the vehicle and there were no other occupants. It was determined that the Impala was traveling southbound on Highway 77 approaching Elm Road. The vehicle lost control as it entered the curve north of Elm road on Highway 77. The Impala went off the roadway and into the west ditch and then began to roll causing extensive damage to the vehicle and ejecting Tiedeman. Tiedeman was transported to Lincoln Bryan West via Star Care Helicopter to be treated for life threating injuries.
Alcohol was believed to be a factor in the cause of the accident. A seat belt was not worn and the air bags did not deploy. The accident is still under investigation by the Gage County Sheriff’s Office.
