Publisher’s Clearinghouse Scam

OFFENSE: Publisher’s Clearinghouse Scam

A Wymore resident contacted an investigator at the Gage County Sheriff’s Office to report he had received a phone call from 876-397-5684 and the person claimed to be from the Publisher’s Clearinghouse. Although the suspect used his name when calling, he became suspicious when after asking where he banked, the caller mentioned he would need to send $1,000.00 in order to collect the prize. He hung up the phone, without providing any financial account information and without sending any money.

The Wymore Police Department was notified of the report to the sheriff’s office for their case files.

Do not provide any personal, confidential, or financial information to unknown persons, whether it is via the Internet, telephone, US mail, or in person. Anyone who has been scammed can contact their local police department or call the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and ask to speak with an investigator.
