Rollover Injury Accident @ SW 18th Road & W State Hwy 8

On May 22, 2016 at approximately 1817 Hours, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office, Beatrice Rescue, Wymore Rescue, Wymore Extrication, Odell Fire, Odell QRT, Star Care V, and the Nebraska State Patrol responded to a single vehicle rollover accident on Southwest 18th Road just south of West State Highway 8.

A 2005 Toyota Avalon driven by Emma R. Johnson (20) of Beatrice, Nebraska was traveling northbound on Southwest 18th Road just south of West State Highway 8. The Toyota lost control due to loose white rock on the roadway along with speed. The vehicle exited the roadway to the west and entered the ditch. The vehicle collided with a barb-wire fence and rolled three times before coming to rest in a field approximately 95 feet to the west of Southwest 18th Road.

All the occupants in the vehicle were ejected. The front passenger was transported by Star Car V to Bryan LGH West in Lincoln with serious injuries. The driver was transported to Beatrice Community Hospital by Beatrice Rescue and was released later. The rear passenger was transported to Beatrice Community Hospital by Wymore EMS and was also released later. The fourth occupant refused medical attention.

Alcohol was not a factor in the accident. Air bags did not deploy in the vehicle and none of the occupants in the vehicle were wearing their seat belts. The accident in currently being investigated by the Gage County Sheriff’s Office.
