LOCATION: Just East of US Highway 77 on East State Highway 41

OFFENSE: Rollover Injury Accident

CASE: 2018-4325

On Monday, August 20, 2018 at 2358 hours, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office, Cortland QRT, and Clatonia Rescue responded to a single vehicle injury accident that occurred just east of US Highway 77 on East State Highway 41.

A Peterbilt semi hauling cattle, driven by 61 year old Timothy E. Farrell, of St. Josephs, Missouri was traveling westbound on East State Highway 41 just east US Highway 77. Farrell lost control of his vehicle while traveling around the curve at the intersection and rolled onto the driver’s side. The vehicle and trailer continued sliding into the ditch while on its side and came to a rest off the roadway in the ditch on the southwest side of East State Highway 41.

Farrell sustained minor injuries from the accident and was transported to Bryan LGH West in Lincoln by Clatonia Rescue. His injuries are unknown but are considered non-life threatening.

The cattle were removed from the trailer and stored at a local facility. Air bags did not deploy in the vehicle and seatbelts were being utilized by the driver. Speed and inattention is suspected to be the cause of the accident. Alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

Seven cattle were killed as a result of the accident. We believe there are 13 more cattle on the loose in the area. If located contact Nathan Buhr at 402-239-8564.
