LOCATION: Beatrice

OFFENSE: Scam / Fraudulent Phone Call—“Grandma/Grandpa Scam”

CASE #: 2017-6227

A Beatrice resident called an investigator with the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and said she received a telephone call on the morning of Tuesday, 11-14-2017 at approximately 9:35 am from a phone with the area code of 351.  She states the person stated “Hi Grandma.”, then asked her if she knew who it was.  The resident told a Gage County Sheriff’s Office investigator she was aware of the numerous scam phone calls occurring and knew it was an attempt to defraud her.

The Gage County Sheriff’s Office investigator notified the Beatrice police department of the report for their records.

The Gage County Sheriff’s Office encourages residents to be cautious and prudent when dealing with financial transactions; over the phone, online, through the mail, and in person.  Anyone who believes they are the victims of a fraud or who have received suspicious phone calls, e-mails, or mail, should contact their local police department or call the Gage County Sheriff’ Office and ask to speak with an investigator.
