Single Vehicle Injury Accident

On 06-24-20 at 2013 hrs Beatrice Rural Fire and Rescue, Beatrice Fire and Rescue and the Gage County Sheriff’s office were dispatched to a single vehicle/ deer motorcycle, accident on E Lilac Rd, west of S 108th Rd. An investigation conducted at the scene indicated that a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle, ridden by 56-year-old Jeff Shew of Beatrice, was traveling westbound on E Lilac Rd. when it struck a deer that was in its lane of travel. The motorcycle and rider then entered the north ditch, passed through a plum thicket and eventually came to rest on the slope of the ditch. Mr. Shew was transported from the scene by air ambulance to Bryan West Hospital for what appeared to be serious injuries.
Mr. Shew was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Nether drugs nor alcohol is believed to have been a factor.
