A resident of Beatrice contacted a Gage County Sheriff’s Office investigator to report scam phone calls she had been receiving. The victim states she received several phone calls from (281) 860-2451 and a voicemail was left telling her fraudulent activity had been discovered associated with her social security number and she had to call them back. When she tried to call the number, the call did not go through. The investigator confirmed for her this was a scam, pointing out the Social Security Administration would not have her cell phone number. She did not provide any personal, financial, or confidential information and has not lost any money.
The Gage County Sheriff’s Office urges residents to use extreme caution and to be aware that Internet and telephone scams are ongoing throughout Beatrice, Gage County, Nebr aska and nationwide. Do not provide any personal, financial, or confidential information to unknown persons outside of normal business practices. Do not make any payments to avoid threats of jail, rather contact your local police department or call the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and ask to speak with an investigator.
