LOCATION: Ponca Tribe-Chief Standing Bear Trail – 11th & Caldwell, Beatrice, NE

On July 2, 2019 at approximately 6:30 A.M. the Gage County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious blue tent or tarp along the Chief Standing Bear Trail just east of Beatrice. Deputies utilized an ATV due to the rough terrain and the reported distance of 1 mile east of 11th and Caldwell St in Beatrice. Deputies located a blue tent that was assembled and contained pots and pans as well as bedding. No individuals were located in or around the tent. The tent appeared abandoned. It is unknown what the purpose of the tent was in this area.
The Gage County Sheriff’s Office urges citizens to continue to report suspicious activity along the trails to assist the sheriff’s office in patrolling all areas of the county, especially the more inaccessible areas. The influx of information from citizens is vitally important to maintaining safety for citizens and developing information on criminal cases.
