Suspicious Phone Calls

A Cortland resident called the Gage County Sheriff’s Office to report she had received numerous telephone calls for several weeks from phone numbers with area codes from all over the United States.

An Investigator from the Gage County Sheriff’s Office met with the resident and determined she had not suffered any financial loss or given out any personal, confidential, or financial information to these unknown callers.  She was advised to monitor her mail, banking and other financial assets, and to be aware if anyone is attempting to use her credit history and call the Gage County Sheriff’s Office if she finds anything suspicious.

The Gage County Sheriff’s Office cautions residents about answering telephone calls from unknown telephone numbers and about providing personal, confidential, or financial information to unknown persons or unsolicited callers.
