Theft by Receiving Stolen Property

DATE & TIME:  02/10/16

LOCATION:     102 W. 3rd St., Blue Springs

OFFENSE:       Theft by Receiving Stolen Property

CASE #:         2016-0327, 2016-0248

Gage County Sheriff’s Deputies have been continuing their investigation into a large amount of stolen property that was recovered after two search warrants were served on a residence in Blue Springs. On 02/10/16, deputies identified three boxes of baseball cards, football cards, comic books, etc. that had been stolen out of a storage unit in Beatrice.  These boxes were originally seized by deputies on 01/21/16 when serving the search warrants but deputies were not able to locate the owner of the boxes until 02/10/16.

Lance E. Ware of Blue Springs, who remains in custody on four counts of Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, has since been charged with an additional count of Theft by Receiving Stolen Property.

On 01/22/16, deputies also recovered additional tools that were stolen from a storage unit in Adams. These items were turned over to deputies by a private citizen who had just recently purchased the items from Ware.  The private citizen stated that after buying the tools from Ware, he learned that Ware had been arrested for possessing stolen tools.  At that time, the private citizen suspected that the tools he had just purchased from Ware were also stolen.  This private citizen then contacted the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and turned the tools over to deputies.  Deputies then identified the tools as being stolen from a storage unit in Adams and obtained evidence that Ware had recently been in possession of them.

Gage County residents who rent storage units are asked to check their storage unit and make sure that it has not been burglarized and they do not have any items missing.
