A resident of rural Pickrell was notified by her bank that a check from her account was deposited as a part of fraudulent activity. The resident called Southeast Communications and a Gage County Sheriff’s Office investigator determined that the victim had her mail stolen out of her mailbox and the fraud occurred at a bank in the City of Beatrice. The sheriff’s office investigator briefed investigators at the Beatrice Police Department and provided them with the information he had obtained during the initial investigation.

The case is still under investigation.
