Two Vehicle Injury Accident

DATE & TIME:  01-28-19 @ 1854 hrs.

LOCATION: U.S. Hwy 77 and W. PWF Road

OFFENSE:  Two vehicle injury accident

CASE #:   2019-0460

On 01-28-19 at 1854 hrs. Wymore Fire and Rescue, Blue Springs Fire and Rescue, Beatrice Rescue and the Gage County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a two vehicle injury accident at the intersection of U.S. Hwy 77 and W PWF Road. An investigation conducted at the scene determined that a white 1997 Chevrolet Blazer, driven by 50 year old Kimberly Philippi of Mahaska Kansas, was traveling westbound on Hwy 77 and began to turn left onto PWF Road. At that time the Blazer was struck by a silver 2006 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by 33 year old Patrick Marlatt of Beatrice, which was also westbound on U.S. Hwy 77.

Ms. Philippi was transported to Beatrice Community Hospital by ground ambulance for what appeared to be minor injuries.

Based on statements made by both drivers and observations made by EMS, it is likely that the taillights on the Chevrolet Blazer were not in operation or were malfunctioning at the time of the accident.

All parties were wearing occupant restraints. Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to have been a factor.
