OFFENSE: Two vehicle injury accident
CASE #: 2019-0369
On 01-24-19, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a two vehicle injury accident on East Highway 41 near South 25th Road. When deputies arrived they found that a westbound 2018 Chevy Silverado driven by Roy Goracke, 36 years of age of Sterling, NE was struck by an eastbound 2011 Ford F-150 driven by Abel Navarro, 41 years of age of Oxford, NE. Navarro’s vehicle drove over an area of the highway that was snowpacked and icy due to the blowing wind, which was causing the snow to drift onto the highway, which caused Navarro’s vehicle to slide into oncoming traffic and strike Goracke’s vehicle head on. Navarro was transported to Bryan West Hosptital in Lincoln, NE to be further assessed for non-life threatening injuries. Goracke did not sustain any injuries from the accident. Cortland Fire and Rescue and Nebraska State Patrol assisted with the accident. Alcohol or drugs are not a contributing factor. There will be pending charges against Navarro as records show that his Nebraska Driver’s License shows revoked. The investigation is ongoing.
