Two Vehicle Injury Accident

DATE & TIME: September 23, 2018 at 0336 Hours    

LOCATION: U.S. Highway 8, just east of SW 89th Road                       

OFFENSE: Two vehicle injury accident

CASE #: 2018-S71

On September 23, 2018, at 0336 hours, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office, Beatrice Rescue and Odell QRT’s responded to a two vehicle injury accident involving a Black Angus cow on U.S. Highway 8 just east of SW 89th Road. It was reported that vehicle number one, a 2006 Mercury Milan, was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 8 approaching SW 89th Road when a Black Angus cow entered the roadway. The Mercury collided with the cow causing severe front end damage to the vehicle and injuring the drive. Vehicle two, a 2002 Toyota Tacoma, was also traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 8 approaching the accident location and did not see the cow’s body in the roadway and collided with the same cow causing damage to the front passenger tire.

The driver of the Mercury was 60 year old male, Robert Jueneman from Morrowville, Kansas. Jueneman sustained minor cuts and abrasions to the face and hands and was treated by Beatrice Rescue and was not transported to a hospital. The driver of the Toyota was 21 year old male, Noah Rizek from Lincoln,  Nebraska. Rizek and his passenger,who was a minor, were not injured or treated my medical personnel. Neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected to be a causing factor in the accident.
