LOCATION: US Highway 77 near the East junction of Highway 41
OFFENSE: Two Vehicle Injury Accident
CASE: 2018 – 1786
One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident on North U.S. Highway 77 just west of State Highway 41 E. Junction.
On Monday, April 23, 2018, at approximately 16:50 hours, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office along with Cortland Fire, Rescue, and Quick Response Team were dispatched to a two-vehicle injury accident at the intersection of U.S. Highway 77 and East Junction of State Highway 41.
The accident, still under investigation, involving two northbound vehicles. The first vehicle was a 2001 Peterbilt Tractor-Trailer, driven by James Greenfield (57) of Lincoln Nebraska. The second vehicle involved was a 2006 Ford Taurus, driven by Kofi Amoabin (60) of Bolingbrook Illinois.
Amoabin was transported by Cortland Rescue to Brian Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries. Greenfield reported no injuries.
Restraints were in use and no airbag deployment in either vehicle. Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to have been a factor in the accident.
