Two Vehicle Injury Accident

LOCATION: East of S 162nd Road on US Highway 136

OFFENSE: Two Vehicle Injury Accident

On June 5th, 2018 at approximately 1901hrs Filley Fire Department, Beatrice Fire & Rescue, and Deputies from the Gage County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a report of a two vehicle injury accident on Highway 136 near S 162 Road. 

A Case HI Patriot Sprayer driven by Eric Burgett, 38, of Lewiston was westbound on Highway 136 east of S 162nd Road.  A 2006 Nissan Altima driven by Daniel Buchanan, 34, of Beatrice was westbound and went to pass the Sprayer. The Sprayer began to turn south into a field drive, then turned back into the westbound lane of travel, when the driver saw the Altima in the eastbound lane coming up to pass him.  The Altima drove back into the westbound lane at the same time, causing a collision between both vehicles. 

Beatrice Fire& Rescue transported one male to Beatrice Community Hospital with a head injury.  A second male was transported by a private vehicle to Beatrice Community Hospital.

Restraints were in use and airbag were deployed in the Nissan. Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to have been a factor in the accident. The accident is still under investigation by the Gage County Sheriff’s Office.
