Two Vehicle Accident

DATE & TIME: September 7, 2017 at approximately 0745 hours      

LOCATION: US Highway 77 & 38977 US Highway 77, Blue Springs, NE    

OFFENSE: Two Vehicle Non-Injury Accident

CASE #: 2017-5016               

On 09/07/2017 at approximately 0745 hours, Gage County Deputies, Beatrice Fire and Rescue, Wymore Fire and Rescue and the Nebraska State Patrol were dispatched to a two vehicle accident on Highway 77 near Blue Springs, NE.

When deputies arrived they had contact with Jessica R. Hooper, age 39, of Blue Springs, NE and Barbara I. Jones, age 66, of Wymore, NE. It was discovered that Hooper was stopped on US Highway 77 facing west in her red Kia Forte, waiting to turn south onto her driveway that lead to her residence at 38977 US Highway 77. Jones was traveling westbound in her red GMC Sierra pick-up behind Hooper. Jones stated she did not observe Hooper stopped on US Highway 77 and this caused her GMC Sierra to rear end Hooper’s Kia Forte.

Neither Hooper nor Jones were injured in the accident. Both were wearing their seatbelts and alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a factor.

Citations are pending and further investigation is ongoing.
