Vehicle Fire

LOCATION: Hwy. 8 / SW 61^st Rd.

On 10/10/17 at approximately 7:40 PM the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and the Odell Fire Department responded to a vehicle on fire at Hwy. 8 and SW 61^st Rd.  Upon investigation it was learned that Stephanie C. Wrick, age 26, of Lincoln, was driving west on Hwy. 8 when she struck a deer that was in the roadway.  As a result of the collision with the deer, Wrick pulled her vehicle over to the side of the road, where the vehicle then caught on fire due to damage suffered from the collision.  Odell Fire Department members extinguished the fire within a couple of minutes.  Wrick complained of minor pain but was otherwise not injured.  Hwy. 8 was closed down for approximately 45 minutes.

Wrick was wearing a seat belt and alcohol was not a factor in the accident. No citations were issued.
