Vehicle Pursuit

DATE & TIME: September 29, 2015

LOCATION: Beatrice Area

OFFENSE: Flight to Avoid Arrest, Driving Under Revocation, Willful Reckless Driving

CASE #: 2015-4796

On Tuesday September 29, 2015, the Gage County Sheriff's Office was involved in a vehicle pursuit.

At approximately 1716 hours, a Gage County Deputy initiated a traffic stop on a blue Chevrolet Blazer near 6th and Washington Street in Beatrice, after several traffic violations were observed, and the driver was positively identified as an individual with a revoked operator's license. The vehicle failed to stop for the deputy and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit continued north on 6th Street at a high rate of speed then west onto Industrial Row. The vehicle continued west on Industrial Row then turned south onto Ashland Avenue. Once the vehicle approached Hoyt Street, it turned west and exited the city limits. The vehicle continued north on North Blue Ridge Road at a high rate of speed and continued on numerous gravel roads in rural Gage County. As the vehicle was traveling east on East Hackberry Road and approaching South 5th Drive, the Gage County Sheriff's Office terminated the pursuit due to safety reasons, and due to the fact the driver had been positively identified. The vehicle was later located abandoned on East Chestnut near South 25th Road.

At this time, the Gage County Sheriff's Office is attempting to locate 23 year old Thomas D. Sailors of Blue Springs who is the suspect in the pursuit. If anyone has any information on the location of Sailors, or has any prudent information concerning this case, they are encouraged to contact the Gage County Sheriff’s Office at 402-223-5222 or 402-223-4080.
