Vessel Adrift in Big Blue River

DATE & TIME: 07-01-2020 @ 11:00 am

LOCATION: Big Blue River / Blue Springs

OFFENSE: Vessel Adrift in Big Blue River

CASE #: 2020-2938

A deputy and an investigator for the Gage County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched  on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 to investigate a small vessel, a rowboat/non-motorized flat hulled boat, that had been observed capsized in the Big Blue River, about a hundred yards south of the bridge over the Big Blue River. The Wymore police chief was able to view a registration number on the port side of the vessel and provided the name of the registered owner to the deputies. A check of the area for any persons in need of assistance was conducted, but no one was located.

The investigator contacted the owner of the vessel, who lives west of Beatrice, and confirmed there were no injuries or missing persons involved in the boat being capsized. The owner stated he is planning on getting a crew together to retrieve the vessel once the waters of the Big Blue River have receded.
