2 Vehicle Accident

DATE & TIME:  Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 1251hrs

LOCATION:  Hwy 77 and W. Oak Rd 

OFFENSE:  2 Vehicle Accident

CASE #:  2023-5987

On the aforementioned date and time, Deputies with the Gage County Sheriff’s office were dispatched to a 2 vehicle accident on Hwy 77 and W. Oak Rd.  Upon arrival Deputies discovered that a 2010 Ford Focus driven by Evan Saathoff of Wymore had collided with a 2023 Chevy Malibu driven by Delmar Seematter of Marysville, KS.

Saathoff was traveling north bound on HWY 77 when his vehicle veered into the southbound lane striking Seematters vehicle.

Beatrice Fire and Rescue used the “Jaws of Life” to extract Saathoff from the vehicle. The “Jaws of Life” were also used by the Wymore fire and rescue to extract Seematter from his vehicle. Seematter’s wife was also in the vehicle and was able to be removed from the vehicle.

Saathoff was airlifted by Star Care to Bryan West with Non-Life-threatening injuries. Seematter and his wife were transported to BCH with Non-Life threatening injuries by Wymore Ambulance.

Investigation determined that Saathoff was distracted by checking his cell phone causing him to enter the oncoming lane of traffic.
