On 02/02/2019, at approximately 1:00 PM, Gage County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of US Highway 77 and East State Highway 41.
An investigation found that Richard Crawford, 50 years of age of Wilber, NE, was driving eastbound on Highway 77 in a Dodge Challenger. When Crawford approached Highway 41, he observed a semi-trailer, driven by Donald McPherson, 57 years of age of Wedowee, AL, traveling westbound on Highway 77 and turning southbound onto Highway 41 in front of Crawford.
Crawford took evasive action to avoid a collision and struck a curbed median, and a light pole and came to rest in a ditch.
There were no injuries in the accident. Heavy fog was a factor in the accident. No citations were issued.
Nebraska Department of Transportation was notified and arrived on scene to access the damage to the light pole. The Nebraska State Patrol assisted with traffic control.
