Fatality Accident 1/2 East of SW 61st Rd on Hwy 8

On 03-20-15 at around 1559 hours, the Odell QRTs, Odell Fire, Beatrice Fire and Rescue, and the Gage County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a single vehicle motorcycle injury accident ½ mile east of SW 61^st Road on Highway 8.

An investigation conducted at the scene indicated that a 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle, ridden by 52 year old Jeffery Fischer of Cortland, was traveling eastbound on Highway 8 when it left the roadway, entered the south ditch, and then flipped. Mr. Fischer was transported to Bryan LGH West by air ambulance for injuries to his head and torso. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been a factor. Mr. Fischer was wearing a helmet.

At around 2038 hours, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and advised that Mr. Fischer had passed away due to injuries sustained from the accident.
