2nd Degree Assault on a Confined Person

Corrections officers at the Gage County detention center reported an assault on an inmate by another inmate. A Gage County Sheriff’s Office investigator was assigned to the case and determined that Simon Jay Hauck, age 22, who was incarcerated at the Gage County Detention Center assaulted another inmate, while both were incarcerated in the jail on 11-30-2018 at approximately 10:26 am.

The investigator reviewed jail video, interviewed the victim, another inmate who was a witness, and the suspect. The investigator issued a criminal citation for 2^nd Degree Assault on a confined person to Hauck and referred the case to the Gage County Attorney’s Office. The other inmate did not require medical attention and the assault consisted of one punch to his face by the suspect. Corrections officers responded to the cell and separated the inmates for the investigation.
